Climbing in Solana de Granada
Challenge the rock, conquer the altitude and live the adventure in the heart of Granada.
Types of climbing you can do
Sport climbing
Grenada has 16 important climbing areas, with about 160 sectors and more than 2,000 tracks! The type of rock present is limestone and you can find any kind of climbing style: flat rock slabs, vertical and technical walls, overhanging routes, chorreras, among others.
Multi-pitch climbing
Some schools offer routes of various lengths, such as half-day adventures in Alfacar with incredible views of the Sierra Nevada, quite alpine routes in the beautiful Los Cahorros gorge or longer itineraries on the different walls of Los Vados near the Costa Tropical beach.
Búlder
Many of the blocks of Granada are right on our doorstep, such as Cogollos and Nivar. Another beautiful place is Nigüelas, just south of the city of Granada. And the largest and most wonderful area of blocks in Andalucia, Villanueva del Rosario, is only an hour's drive away.
Via ferrata
Some areas such as Los Vados offer via ferratas and cordatas (climbing in facilities but belaying with a rope). The most famous and interesting is undoubtedly the Ferrata de Moclínwhere you cross between the rocks several times on the zip lines.
Alpine climbing
The Sierra Nevada mountains offer many high alpine routes! You can do multi-pitch routes on rock for example on the Veleta walls, or choose one of the many mixed climbs on snow, ice and rock on the different peaks of the Sierra Nevada such as Mulhacen, Veleta or Alcazaba.
Ice climbing
In the winter, the Sierra Nevada offers pure ice climbs as well as many mixed climbs, such as the north face of Mulhacen (AD) or the Canuto Norte de Veleta (AD).
There is even a place for drytooling in La Zubia.
